The essential garlic oil (Allium sativum) is obtained through steam distillation of fresh garlic bulbs. The essential oil is found in small sacs within the cells of the garlic bulb. These sacs break during steam distillation, releasing the essential oil. The essential garlic oil is a pale yellow liquid with an intense and penetrating aroma. The oil contains sulfur compounds, including allicin, diallyl disulfide, and diallyl trisulfide, which give garlic its characteristic flavor and aroma. The essential garlic oil has several medicinal properties, such as antimicrobial, antiviral, and antifungal properties. It has also been shown to help reduce cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels. Additionally, it is believed to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
