Château AD Francos AD Aeternam 2012 Francs Côtes De Bordeaux - Vin roșu AOP Francs Côtes de Bordeaux
ORIGIN
Red Wine, Côtes de Francs Appellation
The origins of Château Ad Francos date back to the 6th century, when Clovis, the first Christian king of France, defeated the Visigoths and conquered the land of Aquitaine. A Frankish garrison settled on this strategic hill, which was named "Ad Francos" (literally meaning "home of the Franks"), giving its name to the present-day village of Francs.
The château, constructed between the 9th and 18th centuries, is an eclectic masterpiece of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Its history has been shaped by major events such as plagues, the Hundred Years' War, invasions, religious wars, and the French Revolution. Over the years, different families expanded the château, each leaving their distinctive mark.
After the French Revolution and the downfall of the local noble lineage, the château was sold to the ancestors of Michel Rolland, a globally renowned oenologist.
